The Aquarium of the Pacific is the largest aquarium, in the southern part of California, and it the one of the top five visited aquariums in the entire nation. In fact, over 1.6 million visitors come to this amazing Aquarium, to learn about all the inhabitants of the Pacific Ocean. There are more than 11,000 animals on display, and over 50 different types of exhibits that display the diversity of the Ocean.
One of the newest exhibits is the ‘Horses and Dragons’. In this exhibit, you will see over a dozen different types of seahorses and sea dragons. In addition to the exhibits, there are also “hands on” activities and interesting lectures, by renowned scientists in the field of marine life. The ‘moon jelly touch pool’ is one such example, where visitors are able to touch these gelatinous sea creatures.
In addition, the Aquarium of the Pacific is the leader in “green” practices. They were awarded the Super Nova Star Award in 2009, for being the most energy efficient business in the nation.
