The Aquarium of the Pacific is the largest aquarium, in the southern part of California, and it the one of the top five visited aquariums in the entire nation. There are more than 11,000 animals on display, and over 50 different types of exhibits that display the diversity of the Ocean.


One of the newest exhibits is the ‘Horses and Dragons’.  In this exhibit, you will see over a dozen different types of seahorses and sea dragons.  In addition to the exhibits, there are also “hands on” activities and interesting lectures, by renowned scientists in the field of marine life.  The ‘moon jelly touch pool’ is one such example, where visitors are able to touch these gelatinous sea creatures.

El Dorado Nature Center

This 84 acre nature center is located at: 7550 East Spring Street, Long Beach, CA, 90815.  There are three (3) hiking trails, and one is paved for individuals who prefer this type of path.  In addition, there is a one mile trail that will branch off into a two mile trail, if you desire to continue on.  Also, there are two lakes connected by a stream.  This is a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.  Not only is it fun and beautiful for all to enjoy, but it is also an educational experience for children of all ages.



On board the USS Iowa, visitors will experience the daily life of a fearless Navy sailor.  This museum was once one of the greatest naval battleships in history.  At one time, three United States Presidents were hosted on this ship.  Today, visitors of all ages are educated through exhibits that are interactive and awe-inspired.  In addition to experiencing what life was like during the wars, there are tour guides (many who are US Navy Veterans) on hand, who will point out the highlights of the ship, such as the Admiral’s Bridge, mess area, the captain’s cabin and the crews sleeping quarters, as well as the main guns and the missile decks.   In addition, children can participate in a scavenger hunt, to see who will be the first to find the mascot of the ship.
