02 Jan Celebrity couple finalizes divorce in Los Angeles
Bruce and Kris Jenner have officially called it quits with the recent signing of divorce papers in front of a Los Angeles County family court judge. The official divorce will take another three months to be legalized, as required under the laws of California.
When filing for divorce in September, Kris had stated irreconcilable differences as the reason for divorce and also indicated that the couple officially separated more than a year before the petition. Finalization of the divorce and division of marital assets worth millions of dollars have been set by the agreed-upon property division clause in the petition.
According to the documents filed with the court, Kris Jenner will get to keep the family home. She will also not be without private transportation due to her getting three cars. However, she has to pay more than $2 million to her soon-to-be ex-husband Bruce Jenner in order to facilitate a fair split of assets. Bruce will have the choice of driving away from the marital home in one of two other cars he will retain, with his motorcycle in tow.
Independent liquid assets and personal airline frequent-flier miles will be split as outlined by the agreement. Bruce and Kris will share joint legal and physical custody of their youngest daughter who is currently 17 years old. Neither of them will have to pay child support.
Property division and child custody are primary issues that are required to be settled during a divorce. Estranged couples often find it difficult to agree on anything while finalizing a divorce. Having a lawyer by one’s side in such situations can be very helpful in securing one’s right to assets jointly owned with one’s spouse as well as ensuring a fair custody agreement with the children.
